Fall Back: things are moving too quickly

/ˈfôlˌbak/ (noun) - an alternative plan that may be used in an emergency

- becoming less involved with the person you're dating in order to protect your feelings.

This is another ego term for surrendering or admitting defeat. For those who experienced an emotional roller coaster, this implies that you know what to expect. People who pull away on their emotions, for whatever story or reason, upset those around them when it appear that everything is going well and then become suddenly distant. Have you been a victim or guilty about it?

Modern dating may be tough but to survive this, you must learn to deal with people who fall back.

In the context of love, some argue that it's better to put your best effort and chances forward than to regret not doing so.

Well it takes a lot of self-control and self-respect to fall back. It's not only a necessary defense if you're worried to be vulnerable to someone. Your happiness and your life may be viewed more clearly when you take a step back.

You ask yourself,

what is it about you that makes you vulnerable?

Do you know what turns you off?

When you're in a relationship, what are you depending on?

Is it possible for you to be alone with your thoughts?

When you're attempting to move on from someone, do you seek the attention of others?

Your answers can allow you to gain better perspective on how you're feeling, which will prevent you from obsessing so quickly in that situationship.

We may not know why it happens, but this is a sign that you should just disconnect rather than risk going through the entire process of failing in love.

If we don't allow them to fall back, they will never be ready for us. It hurts to experience that detachment. Instead, think of it as a favor you're getting for being with someone more deserving of your time and affection.
